About

Phil Scarpaci started his directorial career directing plays at the Group Repertory Theatre in Los Angeles. Since those early days, he has directed countless award winning projects in a wide range of genres from theatre to independent feature films to Disney children's programming, music videos and commercials.

His most recent feature films include In the Key of Eli, Blue Bus and Welcome to September, all of which have been produced by Scarpaci/Kelly Productions, the company for which he is president and co-owner with veteran producer Pattie Kelly. All three films have garnered multiple awards on the domestic and international film festival circuit including "Best Feature", "Best International Feature", "Audience Award" and "Best Comedy". Blue Bus is distributed by Echelon Studios and Welcome to September is distributed by York Entertainment.

Scarpaci has also directed award winning Disney Programming for over 20 years including numerous after school specials as well as two series, Beyond the Page and Safety Smart Science with Bill Nye the Science Guy.

Other directing projects include episodes for SAF3, a new series from the creators of Baywatch and a sitcom pilot for Swallow Your Bliss, which he also co-created.

His new play "Baby Oh Baby," had its world premier at the Whitefire Theatre in Los Angeles. The sold out run ran from March 19 - June 4 2016. Phil's documentary film  "From Page To Stage - For the Love of Theatre" will have it's world premiere at the Newport Beach Film Festival, April 2017. Based on the queer-friendly comedy "Baby Oh Baby" we follow the talented troop of actors as they face the challenges to go from page to stage.

Scarpaci's diverse directing background has one thing in common; his ability to establish a creative and collaborative work environment. It's not uncommon for actors to say Phil's approach to directing promotes some of "my best work ever" and that his feel for the material and his touch with actors are what make it so special to work with him.
